Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This position responds to and
investigates the crime scene; the
evaluation of the scene; and uses
various types of equipment; also
develops, secures, and packages
physical evidence for scientific
evaluation and comparison; prepares
detailed reports on the observations
and activities at the scene for the
police department; testifies in
court regarding the findings and
processing methods used at the
scene. The Technician works within
the general outline of work to be
performed under direct supervision
of the Property/ Evidence Manager.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Possess a Vocational Degree or
Specialized Training equivalent to
satisfactory completion of two years
of college and attain a
Certification as a Fingerprint
Expert in the 18th
Judicial Circuit of Brevard and
Seminole counties. Knowledge of
report writing and skill in
preparing diagrams relating to crime
scenes preferred. A combination of
education and experience may be
considered.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess valid Florida
Operator’s license without
restrictions except corrective
lenses, and must reside within a
fifty (50) mile radius of the City
of Titusville. Must successfully
complete a polygraph examination, a
psychological test, fingerprint
check, driving record check and a
background check. Courses in
fingerprint classifications, crime
scene processing and basic police
photography required within one year
of date of hire. Subject to
emergency call-out during off-duty
hours and on weekends as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to move objects up
to 150 pounds as required. Must be
able to bend over, stoop, walk and
move about in confined spaces while
processing crime scenes. Visual and
hearing ability.
