| One of the highlights of the
annual MorphoTrak AFIS Users Conference is the "Hit of the Year" award.
Since 2000, this award is presented in the name of Bill Whyte, former
superintendant of Identification with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
The award is presented to an individual or agency for a significant case
outcome using AFIS technology. The employees of MorphoTrak make the
selection from entries submitted throughout the year and a plaque is
presented during the MorphoTrak AFIS Users conference.
This years recipient was the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office for an
AFIS hit made on a soda straw wrapper recovered from a vehicle. The
print hit led to the subject of a Fleeing and Eluding case.
The plaque was accepted by Bill Schade on behalf of the entire Pinellas
County Fingerprint Division and presented to the members of the Latent
Section by Major Dan Simovich |
